Texas Hold ‘Em Simulator is a multi user application aimed at providing an environment for players to hone their skills and challenge one another to games of heads-up Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. The application simulates the flow of a poker game by having users choose what actions to perform within the game (fold, raise, call or check ) when it is their turn. Once the hand being played reaches its conclusion, a winner is determined and the chip counts for each player are adjusted if necessary.

A user can start a game with any number of players (up to 9 total). Then, those who wish to play will take turns interacting with the application, choosing what action to take depending on their cards.

The application was built using Ruby for Assignment Two of Term One at the Coder Academy Fast Track Bootcamp in Brisbane. In order to satisfy the requirements of the task, the program aimed to implement ‘Don’t Repeat Yourself’ (DRY) programming practices, object-oriented code structure, test-driven development, source-control and project planning and management.

The purpose of this project was to design and create a portfolio website that advertises and showcases my skills as a full-stack developer to potential employers. The project was to satisfy the brief and criteria of the third assignment of term one at Coder Academy Brisbane’s Fast Track Bootcamp in order to demonstrate skills and understanding relating to modern HTML5, CSS3, source control and UI/UX design techniques.
